Quick answer ⚡

Buy your normal size — oversized tees are already cut big, with dropped shoulders and extra length. Size up once only if you want it extra baggy, and check a tee you love against the size chart before you order.

POV: you ordered an "oversized" tee in your usual size and it fits like your school PT uniform. Or you panicked, went two sizes up, and now it's basically a nightie. Been there. Let's fix it.

First, what even is an oversized tee?

A proper oversized tee isn't just a big tee. It's designed big: dropped shoulders (the seam sits below your actual shoulder), a wider body, longer sleeves that hit around the elbow, and extra length. That's what gives the relaxed, streetwear drape instead of the "I borrowed my dad's shirt" look.

Our oversized tees are cut this way, in 240 GSM heavyweight cotton, so they fall straight instead of clinging. Heavier fabric = better drape = fewer "why does this look weird" moments.

The golden rule: buy your normal size

Because the oversized cut is already built in, stick to your regular size. If you're an M in normal tees, get an M. You'll get the drop-shoulder, roomy look without drowning.

  • Want it extra baggy? Go one size up. Max.
  • Petite or slim frame? Stay true to size, or even one down if you want it relaxed but not huge.
  • Between sizes? Pick the bigger one. Oversized forgives; tight doesn't.

Measure once, flex forever

Grab a tee you already love the fit of, lay it flat and measure:

  1. Chest: armpit to armpit, then double it.
  2. Length: top of the shoulder (next to the collar) straight down to the hem.

Now compare with our size chart. Closest match wins. Takes two minutes and saves you a return.

How it should look when it's right

  • Shoulder seam sits a few cm below your shoulder bone.
  • Sleeves land around your elbow.
  • The hem sits around your hip or slightly below — not mid-thigh.
  • You can raise your arms without the whole tee riding up.

Styling it so it looks intentional

  • Baggy on baggy: oversized tee + wide-leg jeans or cargos + chunky sneakers. The classic.
  • Balance it: if you're shorter, do a quick front tuck into high-waisted bottoms. Instant legs.
  • Layer it: throw an open zip hoodie over it for 8AM-lecture AC survival.
  • Joggers combo: pair with our sweatpants for the full hostel-to-canteen fit.

Plain or printed?

Start with one plain tee from Lowkey — it goes with literally everything. Then add one print that says something about you, like the Future Doctor* tee (*if attendance allows) or the Midnight Racing Club tee.

Quick care tips so it stays oversized (not shrunk-sized)

  • Wash inside-out in cold water.
  • Dry on low heat or hang dry — hostel terrace works.
  • Iron inside-out, never directly on the print.

TL;DR: buy your normal size, check the size chart, size up only if you want it extra baggy. Now go find your fit in Tees.

FAQs (aka what everyone asks)

Should I size up for an oversized t-shirt?

Usually no. Oversized tees are designed with extra width and dropped shoulders, so your regular size already gives the oversized look. Go one size up only if you want it extra baggy.

How should an oversized tee fit?

The shoulder seam should sit a few centimetres below your shoulder, sleeves should land around the elbow and the hem around your hip or just below.

What GSM is good for an oversized tee?

Heavier fabric drapes better. Around 220–240 GSM cotton holds the boxy oversized shape without clinging. Lafangey oversized tees are 240 GSM.

Will an oversized cotton tee shrink?

Pre-shrunk cotton shrinks very little. Wash inside-out in cold water and dry on low heat or hang dry to keep the fit.
